In an increasingly interconnected world, understanding and appreciating the diverse cultures, histories, and geographies of our planet is more important than ever. Throughout this school year, we will take our students on a virtual tour of the seven continents, fostering a sense of global citizenship and cultural awareness.
Here’s a glimpse of the international journey our students will participate in:
- Head Start: Our youngest learners will begin their journey with the icy wilderness of Antarctica. They will explore this unique and fragile ecosystem, learning about its extreme environment and the scientific research conducted there.
- Kindergarten: Students will start close to home by exploring the rich cultural tapestry and historical milestones of North America
- First Grade: Our first graders will travel south to discover the vibrant cultures, ancient civilizations, and stunning natural landscapes of South America. They will learn about the rich traditions of countries like Brazil and Peru.
- Second Grade: The journey continues to Asia, the largest and most populous continent. Our second graders will explore ancient histories, diverse cultures, and modern technological advancements of countries like China, India, and Japan.
- Third Grade: In Europe, our third graders will cover a continent steeped in history, art, and innovation. They will delve into the Renaissance, the Industrial Revolution, and the diverse cultural heritage that makes Europe a cornerstone of global history.
- Fourth Grade: Our exploration of Africa will highlight the continent’s incredible biodiversity, ancient civilizations, and the dynamic cultures that thrive today. Students will learn about the Sahara Desert, the Nile River, and the rich traditions of African nations.
- Fifth Grade: Finally, our fifth graders will journey to Australia and Oceania. They will discover the unique landscapes and cultures of Australia and the Pacific islands.
We will celebrate each month through Global Awareness Assemblies. Each grade level will present on their current continent focus and challenge.
